Colonel Nazmul Huda's daughter's case made Zia an accused after 47 years
Ziaur Rahman:19 January 1936- 30 May 1981
47 years after the murder of Martyr Colonel Khandkar Nazmul Huda Bir Bikram, his daughter Member of Parliament Nahid Izahar Khan has filed a case in the capital's Sherbangla Nagar police station. On November 7, 1975, Nazmul Huda was shot dead on the premises of Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan. Major (retd) Abdul Jalil has been made the main accused in the case. In addition, the then army chief Major General Ziaur Rahman, and Jasad leader Lieut. Colonel Abu Taher (retd) has been accused of the order.

Shere Bangla Nagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Utpal Barua confirmed the case on Thursday. He told Prothom Alo that a murder case has been filed against 20-25 unidentified people including Major (Retd.) Jalil. Investigation of the case has started. Three of the accused have already died. But who had what role and involvement in the incident, everything will come out in the investigation. The charge sheet will be given to the court after the completion of an investigation.
Nahid Izahar Khan said in the case that on November 7, 1975, Col. Khandkar Nazmul Huda Bir Bikram was killed by wayward and disorderly members of the Bangladesh Army in the premises of Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan in Dhaka. He was then the 72 brigade commander of the Rangpur army. Along with Nazmul Huda, two other sector commanders, Major General Khaled Musharraf and Lt. Col. ATM Haider Bir Uttam were also killed.
Nahid Izahar Khan mentioned in the case that he and his brother were young when his father (Nazmul Huda) was killed. They grew up and found out from their father's coursemates, colleagues, and various sources that on the morning of 7th November 1975, at the 10th East Bengal Regiment office (now MP Hostel of Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan), martyred Colonel Nazmul Huda along with two other sector commanders, martyred Major General Khaled Musharraf and Lt. Col. ATM Hyder Bir Uttam was also present. While Nazmul Huda was having breakfast in the morning, Lieutenant Colonel Nawazesh, CO of 10th East Bengal, received a call from the 2nd Field Artillery. After that, the officers of the 10th East Bengal took out three officers including Nazmul Huda.
In the details of the case, Nahid Izahar Khan wrote, in 1975, the then army chief Major General Ziaur Rahman, and Jasad leader Lieut. Officers, JCOs, and soldiers of the 10th East Bengal under the command of Colonel Abu Taher (Retd) carried out the planned killing in cold blood. Lt Col Siraj (then Captain), and Major Muqtadir (then Captain) were present at the spot. They can also learn that Major Md. along with officers, JCOs, and soldiers of the 10th East Bengal. Asad Uzzaman (Retd.), Major Md. Abdul Jalil (retd.) shot dead three former army officers Nazmul Huda, Khaled Musharraf, and ATM Haider. After being shot to ensure death, they were bayoneted.
Nahid Izahar Khan also mentioned in the case that on March 26, 1971, his father (Nazmul Huda) directly participated in the liberation war. He was the Baira sub-sector commander of Sector 8, Jessore. Later, the time was so unfavorable for them in the country that once his brother went to the mayor of Dhaka, Sadek Hossain Khoka, to name the road after his father. Then the streets were named after the brave freedom fighters. He (Sadek Hossain Khoka) took his brother's application form and saw his father's name and threw him out of the office. Currently, the government that believes in the spirit of the liberation war under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina is in power. Citizens are getting justice. So he demanded justice for the killing of three brave freedom fighter military officers including his father.
Nahid Izahar Khan Member of Parliament from the reserved women's seat in the National Parliament. In response to the question of why he filed the case so long after the murder, he told Prothom Alo on Thursday, "At the time of our father's murder, our two brothers and sisters were five and eight years old respectively." There was no opportunity to take action then. It took a long time for us to return to normalcy due to the political change, and the anti-independence forces in the state power. According to the evidence we have received about the murder of the father, now is the right time to file a case.
This member of parliament said, "We want the trial of the killing of the freedom fighter army officer to be completed in a legal process." A pro-independence government in the spirit of the liberation war is currently in power. The killers of the Father of the Nation and his relatives have been brought to justice. War criminals have been prosecuted. We are hopeful that the killing of freedom fighter army officers will also be prosecuted. In the undemocratic process of state power in Bangladesh, we all hope that no one comes down the ladder of blood and we all get justice through the establishment of the rule of law.'

Ziaur Rahman became member of Bakshal by application: Information Minister
Information Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Hasan Mahmud said that Ziaur Rahman, the founder of BNP, himself applied to become a member of Bakshal. Not only that but also wrote an article in favor of Bakshal in the newspaper. Later he was made a member of Bakshal.

Hashan Mahmud said this in the chief guest's speech at the unveiling ceremony of the book 'Bangabandhu's Second Revolution and Bakshal' written by writer and researcher Subhash Singh Roy at the Information Directorate conference room at the Secretariat on Thursday afternoon. These things were said in a press release sent by the Ministry of Information.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh News Agency and former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University AMS Arefin Siddique, Chief Information Officer Md. Shahenur Mia and writer Subhash Singh Roy spoke.

Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud said BNP founder Ziaur Rahman was not made a member of Bakshal first. Army Chief, Air Force Chief, Navy Chief. But Ziaur Rahman was the deputy chief. That is why he was not made a member in the first place. He petitioned to become a member and also wrote newspaper articles on behalf of Bakshal. So today BNP who talks so much about Bakshal, spreads confusion, they have no moral right to say that.

The information minister mentioned that after independence, six members of parliament were shot dead, jute warehouses were set on fire, and riots took place. That is why Bangabandhu said that it is necessary to keep the nation united and he formed Bakshal in view of that. All were brought on the same platform under Bakshal, those who were leaders were made members of the Bakshal Central Committee.

Regarding newspapers, the information minister said, after the establishment of Bakshal, other than four newspapers were closed, it is correct but no journalist of any newspaper remained unemployed. Bangabandhu formed a five-member committee including journalist Enayetullah Khan and Giyas Kamal Chowdhury. On the recommendation of that committee, all the journalists were employed in the Directorate of Information, Directorate of Film and Publication, Customs, Jute Mills, and Textile Corporation.

When asked by journalists whether Awami League is adopting a foreign-oriented policy to win the next election, Minister Hashan Mahmud said, 'Look, who goes to foreigners at night and who invites foreigners, it is being published in newspapers and television. We believe in people's power. Awami League believes in the power of the people and does not believe in the power of anything else. When the Awami League came to power, it came to power relying on the people, with the support of the people.

In the speech of the special guest, AMS Arefin Siddique said, "One of the key words of Bangabandhu, the father of the nation, was the management of the country, "The people own this country, it is our duty to serve the people." Democracy is practiced in different ways in different countries of the world. If Bangabandhu had time, he and his family would not have been killed on August 15, Bakshal could have been a model for developing countries in particular. Because they saw Bangladesh moving forward. In 1975, the country had the highest per capita income in South Asia. Even more than China. Today China's per capita income is over 10 thousand dollars. In fact, after Bangabandhu's murder, the killers have ruled this country for a long time and they have misinterpreted Bakshal in many ways, spreading confusion.
